ADT4Blue takes part into major European events on Blue Economy!

In November 2025, ADT4Blue strengthened its presence across Europe’s innovation landscape by participating in two major events: the Interreg Atlantic Area Annual Event (ASPC) in Galway (Ireland) and the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) in Barcelona (Spain). Both gatherings addressed complementary priorities for the sustainable future of coastal regions and cities.

Driving Blue Synergies in Galway

On November 12th, 2025, the Marine Institute Headquarters in Galway (Ireland) held the Interreg Atlantic Area Annual Event, organized under the Irish Presidency of the programme, and led by the Northern and Western Assembly. The vent brought together stakeholders from across the Atlantic zone to reinforce territorial cooperation, share best practices, present ongoing innovative projects, and set shared priorities for the years ahead.

Aligned with the theme “Blue Synergies”, the event was closely coordinated with both the Atlantic Stakeholders Platform Conference (ASPC) and the Interact Programme, reflecting a strong commitment to support the implementation of the Atlantic Action Plan 2.0.

ADT4Blue was present at the event and promoting the project’s Open Call 3. The consortium was represented by the Lead Partner, Instituto Politécnico da Guarda, and the University of Galway.

Exploring the future of sustainable cities in Barcelona

From November 4th to 6th, 2025, ADT4Blue was present at the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona. For its 2025 edition, themed “The time of cities”, the trade fair gathered more than 25 000 participants and 1 000 exhibitors from around the world. Local authorities, institutions, businesses, manufacturers, researchers, startups, and NGOs met at Fira Gran Via to share visions, technologies, and strategies capable of sustainability and transforming urban areas.

Around six priority pillars for 21st century cities, SCEWC highlighted how cities are becoming key players in global governance, shaping a new urban paradigm grounded in stability, digital transformation, and citizen-centered innovation.

ADT4Blue was present at Smart City World Congress and Tommorow Blue Economy in Barcelona, engaging in several networking events. The consortium was represented by the Lead Partner, Instituto Politécnico da Guarda, and Inova-Ria.

A strategic month for ADT4Blue

By taking part in these two major European events, one dedicated to the Blue Economy and the other to smart and sustainable urban development, ADT4Blue strengthened its role at the intersection of coastal innovation, territorial cooperation, and forward-looking sustainable solutions.

Both experiences provided ADT4Blue with strategic insights and inspiration to continue supporting transformative projects across the Atlantic.

ADT4Blue Training Programme

Amongst all these events, the ADT4Blue Training Programme has started for the selected participants of Open Call 1 and 2, with the ADT4Blue Entrepreneurship Workshop led by W. Bernard Carlson, John Breslin and Mafalda Proença Santos from the University of Galway.

It was a great way for the participants to explore topics such as the transformative potential of entrepreneurship, the importance of market research, the practical implementation of digital solutions or the alignment of technologies to the Blue Economy challenges.
