
University of Galway – Data Science Institute
Established in 1845, the University of Galway ranks among the top 1% of universities in the world. The Data Science Institute (DSI), a dedicated research institute of the University, is a leading world-class institute in Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Data Engineering.
It hosts the Insight Research Ireland Centre for Data Analytics, a national ICT research center funded by Research Ireland. Through DSI and Insight, the University is at the center of a wide network of national and international partners, from top academic institutions to multinationals and SMEs operating in the fields of Data Science and AI.
The University of Galway also has strong expertise in technology entrepreneurship through the TechInnovate and AgInnovate programmes. These are led by serial entrepreneur Professor John Breslin and by Professor Walter Bernard Carlson, who developed the technology entrepreneurship programmes at the University of Virginia before moving to Galway.
In its seventh year, TechInnovate and AgInnovate train returners, employees, and the unemployed in how to create innovation-driven enterprises, with a particular focus on the agricultural sector, and also including food and marine.
