Programme – Sprint 1: Training Courses

Orientation Workshop for Advanced Digital Technologies for the Blue Economy

Duration: 1 day

This workshop gives novice entrepreneurs with an overview of the concepts, tools, and skills needed to create a digital technology innovation-driven enterprise.  It is based on the latest teaching and research on innovation and entrepreneurship [i.e., design thinking from Stanford, disciplined entrepreneurship from MIT, and the US National Science Foundation’s I-Corps].  The workshop will be a mix of lectures and group exercises.  For the workshop, participants will be encouraged to bring their initial innovation ideas, form diverse teams in an immersive learning experience, and learn to pitch their ideas.

Developing a Business Plan (Basic)

Duration: 6 hours (early October)




Participants will, over the duration of this short course, learn the process of how to create an innovation-driven enterprise. As a framework for this, we use a structured business planning process, and participants will begin the process of developing a business plan.






Developing a Business Plan (Advanced)

Duration: 36 hours (October to December)




Participants will, over the duration of the course, learn the process of how to create an innovation-driven enterprise. As a framework for this, we use a structured business planning process, and participants will develop the essential parts of a business plan and investor pitch as a useful vehicle to achieve this goal.





Blockchain Fundamentals

Duration: 5 hours

This introductory course bridges foundational blockchain theory with real-world applications. Students will explore key concepts such as cryptography, digital assets, smart contracts, and decentralized applications (DApps). Through case studies and hands-on activities, learners will understand how blockchain technology reshapes industries and gain practical insights into its transformative potential.

Advanced Blockchain Systems & Applications

Duration: 50 hours

Unlock the transformative power of blockchain with our Blockchain advanced training course. Designed for both technical and non-technical audiences, this program demystifies distributed ledgers, consensus protocols, smart contracts, tokenization, and decentralized applications. It also explores real-world use cases from finance to supply chain, equipping you with the knowledge and confidence to thrive in the decentralized future.

Introduction to the Internet of Things (IoT)

Duration: 5 hours

This course offers a concise introduction to IoT, covering its core concepts, types of devices, communication protocols, and cloud integration. Participants will learn how IoT enables automation, supports real-world applications, and drives sustainable practices that can be applied in the blue economy improving operational efficiency, enabling sustainable practices, and protecting marine ecosystems. With advancements in IoT technology, the blue economy can achieve a balance between economic growth and environmental stewardship.

This course explores how Internet of Things (IoT) technologies address real-world challenges in marine and maritime industries. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of IoT solutions for automation, environmental monitoring, smart ports, logistics, fisheries, and renewable energy within the Blue Economy.
